Sun, Golf & Charity Work: Highlights from the Lefroy Harbour Golf Classic

On Thursday June 23rd a generous group of golfers gathered at Innisbrook Golf Club in Barrie, for the Annual Lefroy Harbour Golf Classic, to once again support Mully Children’s Family Homes in Kenya. The day was perfect with lots of sun - not too hot and not too cold but just right to play golf! The atmosphere at the tournament was very relaxed as we played best ball. There was also the opportunity to further support the fundraising efforts by purchasing Grenades or Mulligans when your swing didn’t go exactly as planned! I have to say the Grenades helped our team out of a sand trap (or two) that we all managed to land in. After all, why struggle pitching it out?
After an enjoyable day of golf, we came back to the club house to find over 40 items for silent auction and a wheel barrel full of booze being raffled. Of course there were prizes for the lowest score, the most honest, for landing closest to the pin, and longest drive but the most fun awards were for landing closest to the lion, elephant, and giraffe! Our very own Johnny Buchner won “Men’s Longest Drive”. It was announced that he hit the ball 396 yards. I wonder if they need a new measuring tape.
The generous outpouring of support was remarkable, and the participant’s efforts will go far in housing and caring for vulnerable children in Kenya. Together we raised $20,000.00 for Mully Children’s Family. This could not have been accomplished without the kind support of many people. Altogether, we had over 40 sponsors and 90 golfers! Buchner Manufacturing vendors played a significant role in this event, whether they sponsored a hole, sent a silent auction item, golfed, or did all three. A warm thank you to the following:
