In 2012, John and Vikki Buchner travelled to Kenya to volunteer at Mully Children’s Family (MCF) – a home that rescues orphaned and abandoned children and gives them food, a home, and an education to be productive members of society. While there, John noticed that there was no gutter system in place to collect any rain water, thus losing the opportunity to collect this precious resource. Inspired by this, John decided that he was going to use his knowledge and expertise to install gutters on MCF’s 46 buildings while simultaneously teaching income generating skills to African youth.
Thanks to some very generous donors, John was able to collect the materials needed to make this project possible. On January 29th, John and Vikki Buchner, Tom Howson, Carl Brausewetter of Bau Meister Fabrications and 20 other individuals travelled to Kenya to begin work on the buildings.
On behalf of John and the rest of the Rain Harvest Project Team, we would like to thank these various gracious donors: Jupiter Aluminum, Nichols Aluminum, West Shore Resources, Bau Meister Fabrications, Featherlite Ladders, Midwest Tools, Cardinal Fasteners, Henry Co., Akzo Nobel, Van Mark, and KWM. Without your help, this dream would not have been made into a reality.Read More - Buchner Led Team Travel to Kenya for The Rain Harvest Project
