Dedicated to the environment and doing our part to ensure a healthy planet for future generations, Buchner Manufacturing has always recycled their aluminum scrap. Notably, more than 5,000,000 pounds of scrap has been sent to the recycler in the last five years, creating products that serve a purpose and keeping it out of the landfill.
Our Sustainability Process
Aluminum producers and recyclers do their part by working with businesses like Buchner Manufacturing to enable critical industrial recycling programs. We assist in the collection and retrieval of aluminum building parts, window frames, wire, tubing, and electronics.
Buchner Manufacturing Inc. products are also packaged in boxes made of 95% recycled material, are made from a process that recycles their production waste, and also cleans and reuses the water from production. This allows for the use of recycled raw materials to be used in production and saves over 14,000,000 million trees being cut down each year.
The BMI products themselves such as eavestrough, downpipe, hangers, and outlets are all made with raw aluminum that is 98% recycled from both pre-consumer and post-consumer processes.

According to The Aluminum Association, nearly 75% of the aluminum produced in the U.S. is still in use today. Aluminum can be recycled directly back into itself over and over again in a closed loop when recycled appropriately and continuously!
Wasted aluminum can take approximately 400 years to decompose.
The recycling process for aluminum also takes 95% less energy than the process of producing virgin aluminum, it also causes 95% less air pollution and 97% less water pollution than the producing process.

Congratulations Jupiter Aluminum
Jupiter Aluminum Corporation has become the first facility in the United States to achieve the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Certification. The company’s Hammond, Indiana, USA facility has received Certification demonstrating its commitment to environmental, social and governance performance.
The facility melts scrap aluminum to produce common alloy coils for North American markets.
The ASI Certification program is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminum value chain. The independent, third-party audit of the Jupiter Aluminum facility was carried out by DNV GL.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer of ASI said: “We are delighted to congratulate Jupiter Aluminum Corporation on their ASI Certification, the first to be achieved in the USA. Their passion and commitment to sustainability as a recycler is a testament to the importance of a circular economy approach for aluminum.
